HELP ME!!!

Posted by cokelady

Okay, people. I need help and somebody out there can give it to me. I tried for 8 hours today (maybe a bit of a stretch) to get a really great template on my blog, but to no avail. How do you people get the fun ones on your blogs??? I got really close once, but I just can't MAKE IT WORK! What am I doing wrong?!? And where do you find a good selection of fun templates? I've been to dozens of sites (Blog Skins and the like), but I know there are more out there somewhere. Who's hiding them??? And what about fonts? How can I get some better fonts on my blog? Somebody HELP ME!!!

Not much going on around here today, so this will be a short post. Everybody cheer!!! YEAH! A short post from Becki!!! Who woulda' thunk it possible?!

Gotta round up some supplies for Sunday School in the morning, then go make sure everything is in order throughout the house. (We have Sunday services here.) So, you're all off the hook! This post is officially OVER! Hit the showers and go home!

Later,
~Bec~

I'm no help, Sis, because I did the same thing for the first few days of blogging. I saw those pretty ones and wanted one too. Then people were saying to me that they are too hard to read. I admit they are pretty hard (Brother Ray probably hates them...lol!) but I think they are gorgeous and mine looks boring. I finally gave up looking for them but if you find out how to do it, let me know. I would still like the option!

I'll make sure that Jeremy sees your blog. I picked one out and just said, "Put this one on my site, okay?" It took him all of about 10 minutes. The background that he has on his came from a picture that he took on Okinawa, so if he can figure out how to put one of his own pictures on there, surely he can help you get a pre-fabbed background on your's.

I look forward to seeing what you pick out.

the way to change your blog is by altering your "template".

If you log in and just want to change colors and things, you go to "change settings" then to "template". Where you see things that say Font, that is where you can change your font, it will then say stuff like font size, change that. If you see something that says "background: #dcff89" that # sign with the numbers following is a code for a certain color. If you like some pretty cool templates, there is a link on my blog as to where I found mine. You will have to open a photo bucket account to download the pictures from the templates to re save then put on your blog as your own. I know you can do it, I started blogging about six months ago, and I have learned it pretty much all by myself. The main thing is, it takes time. I can spend up to two hours just fiddling with it and decide to keep the original look I started out with. Good luck, email me with any ?'s.

Thanks, Kasey! But... I'm still lost. I think I've done everything that you mentioned, I'm just not doing something RIGHT. One of the templates I was trying to get was on the same site you got yours from. I did the Photobucket thing and everything else, I just can't get it to "take"! So yes, I have LOTS of questions... I just don't know how to ask them in such a way that I can get any answers that will be different than how it's already been explained to me. I just can't figure out what's going wrong. ???

Have you used the "preview" button to see how everything looks before you save it?

if you are getting the template from the same place I got mine, then you need to do this:

Decide which template, download the template (i think it uses a zip file)Save the pictures onto your pc, then upload them onto your personal photobucket account. Then find the original picture code and replace it with the photobucket codes you uploaded (you will need to do this for every image provided in the original template used off of photobucket)Once you have put the photo links from your own photo bucket in place of the old photo links then copy the whole template code. Go to your blog template and clear it out then paste the new template in. Click preview. If it looks good, save it. You can do the little things like changing font later, but if you have the good "bones" of a template then save it and alter things at a different time. hmmmm...I could email you a sample template.

Cool background, but it is so Tammy Lewis Kaufman... Plaid...yes...this...I'm not so sure.

Glad that Kasey was able to walk you through it. Jeremy's response was, "why would I want to help her, she tied me to a chair...she shut me up in the dryer...naw, I don't need to help her." I was sensing some bitterness there. ~grin~ actually, he is a bad procrastinator and you would have figured it out by yourself before he got around to telling you how to do it.

Ha! Tell Jeremy that he'll REALLY be sorry now!

Tammy Kaufman??? This is so NOT Tammy! She wouldn't have picked anything like this at all. I'm so confused! What are you talking about???

Besides, people, this is technically ARGYLE, not plaid. :-) You know, like men's dress socks!

Tammy was one of those preppy dressers and that is what ARGYLE reminds me of. When I see this I think of those plaid, school-girl skirts with the button-down white shirts with vests, bobby socks and penny-loafers. Now...when you think about it, does that not remind you of Tammy when we first met her? It does me!

This just doesn't scream REBEKAH! *sigh*

I just realized you have stars in your title box. Now those scream "REBEKAH!" There are certain things that remind me of you and there are certain things that remind me of Tammy. Can't help it.
