Okay, okay, okay. Here I am, writing a new "post" for my BLOG. I actually started writing one last night, but my computer froze up. I was playing a game with Sam & Tammy and it was Sam's turn to deal, so I knew I had PLENTY of time (right, Bekah?!)... but alas, it wasn't meant to be. Hopefully I'll be able to get this one flung onto the page before something goes awry today.

Oops. Too late. Appears there's been an accident outside. A two year old being plowed down by an out-of-control four year old on a bike. No blood. They've all been sent back outside now.
Let's see. What's the latest from around here... James is GONE! For 3 whole days!!! WOW. I don't know what to do with myself! I used to think it strange when I was a kid and Mom would get so excited when Dad would go away for a Retreat or something. NOW I UNDERSTAND! When James worked a regular "job" and had to take a trip, I missed him. But now that he's around the house most every day, well, ... this weekend is PARTY TIME!!! We're going to break out the Coke and Totinos and eat in the den and watch Veggie Tales. (True, that wouldn't have been my idea of a "party" a few years ago... Actually, yes, it would have! That's exactly the kind of parties we had! The only difference is that I was surrounded by teen-agers instead of toddlers! Ha!) ANYWAY, I intend to have lots of fun with the kid-o's the next couple of days. -- And get with Sam and Tammy and play lots of games, of course! Wa-Hoo!!!

I was just reading through some of the comments on my last (and first) post. It was recommended that I need to "act cool and hip now" since I'll be blogging with all of the dippy teen-agers. Ugh. I just don't think I can pull it off. I live in TEXAS, so "cool" is out; and I've never had very big hips. Besides, all I really have to talk about is my kids. I can't imagine that writing about potty training and the fear of losing ones baby teeth could be considered "cool" or "hip." Anyway, it's my life, so I guess that's what I have to write about!

Katie is 5 now and reading everything she can get her hands on. Joe is 4 and is still our favorite guitar playing cowbody -- "MOSEY JOE." And Sam is 2 and nothing but trouble. At the moment all three of them are at the kitchen table with construction paper, scissors and glue. Every few seconds one of them will come running in here with some scraps glued together and say, "Look, Mom! For you!!!" I know you dippy teen-agers can't understand this, but there's just nothing better in the whole world!

Okay, gotta get something done around here. Hhmmm. I was going to add a picture or two, but I can't seem to make it work. Maybe I'll get a chance to add some later. Until then...

Later!

~Becki~

I, for one, love hearing about your everyday life with your little ones. Of course, as the "other" grandma, I'm a mite partial to them! Keep filling up blogland with their adorable activities.

I am far from hip and cool. LOL!! I enjoyed your story as well... most of mine are about my kids too. I just slide in a "Hollah" for the yougins', it makes 'em giggle. I am too old to do that in real life and get away with it. It would be like your momma giving us a "wassup"! LOL!!

Anyway... Totinos and Coke is definately party time!! Who can beat the price?? Oh wait...

Coke... $1.00
Totinos... 4 for $5.00
Party Time with your kids... Priceless

:)

I think a "Hollah" from me is probably as far fetched as that "Wassup" from my Mom! HA! Good to hear from you, Wendy!

Yeah, the kids are looking forward to the pizza party. Tammy is coming over to do laundry today (her dryer isn't working at the moment) and is bringing extra pizzas. Wa-Hoo! Then Sam will come over later and I'll put the kids to bed so we can have a "big people" party night: more Cokes and Rummy 5,000. Wow. I'm so excited!

Can I join the party. I'm having Totinos withdrawals. They don't exist in Canada.

BTW...I forgot to thank you for getting Tammy's addy and number to me.

Enjoy all the fun! I'm going to be swamped with teens tonight and tomorrow...my sanity just up and walked out saying, "see ya!" at the thought. hee hee!

I love hearing about your kids! It's the only way to keep intouch and feel like I "know" them a little. I can't wait for weeds and paper hearts! Melissa now gets worms and slug and all sorts of "I love yous". :)

Lost what?! I'm not the one who runs to the computer like a zombie every day to "post" something. I said from the beginning that I'd probably post something new no more than once or twice a week. Unlike SOME people who dive in head first and become addicted with their first entry...

Lose? Lose?!? LOSE?! To the likes of YOU?! I laugh at you, Lady!!! At some point that dumb luck of yours is going to fail and I'm banking that THIS is going to be the week! I mean, it goes against all odds that a person who doesn't have a CLUE what she's doing can possibly have a steady winning streak in a game of strategy. (Or even a game of "stategy," as you and your dumb luck expressed...) So get ready to read 'em and weep, Mama -- you're sunk! (Unless, of course, Sam Kaufman is playing with us... in which case we'll never have the time to FINISH a game and see who would have won or lost! HA!)

Thats a true statement about Sam! :) Look out Momma Smith!! Oh, and don't sit next to Sam. Make James or Jon or someone you don't like.

Yikes, this is getting vicious! :P

I just love reading about Katie Rue, Cuddle Bug, and of course the little honery Sam. aaathey are great. And you know how I feel about you. Keep up the good work. Keep on winning those games. I just know I don't want to play Double Sol with you, you have tooooooo many eyes watching everyboby elses' cards.

Ha! That was in the good ole' days! Tammy and I tried to play Nuts last night. HA! It was pathetic! I don't even know what cards I have anymore, much less what everybody else ought to be playing!

And by the way, Sister Clarkson, it's against the rules to post anonymous comments on this site!!! How rude.

Oh, so she's the culprit! Good work Bec!!~~ Remember when you and James first got together and he used to call you BEC and it made me sooooo mad becasue I didn't think he knew you well enough to have the right to call you BEC! Ha~ It is to laugh.

Ah yes. "BEC." I still think of you sometimes when James calls me that. (That's ALL he has ever called me.) I remember how furious you were (and how disgusted I was!) that he just assumed the liberty of using a nickname RIGHT OFF THE BAT. -- When we didn't even know him, much less LIKE him! Guess he knew something we didn't. Now is sounds SO WEIRD if he ever calls me Becki. It's only come out of his mouth a select few times... and I hate it! It just sounds WRONG!

Hey Mom -- I'm glad I didn't know you were going to Stinnett. I would've had to join you there. But as it stands I have way too much to do and can't pull it off on such short notice! Maybe I can go up with Sue and Stacey next time they go.

My kids are at least as excited as those Smith boys, I'm sure! They're driving me crazy!!! I can't wait for you to get here either. I'll have the games stacked on the table and some Cokes chilled and ready!

Hi Sister Becki,

I'm sitting up in the middle of the night as is usual these days and practicing how to comment on blogs when you don't have a blog account. Me, have a blog? I don't even have a cell phone! For that matter, I don't have a tv...well I have a tv but no rabbit ears for reception...just a dvd player for my handful of dvd's and if I can stand the annoying buzz, some VHS movies...ha! Anyway, I learned that for those who have comments set up for "other" you can post with no account (I should get a medal for figuring that out!). Your mother's account isn't set up that way so I can't post on hers. So when she gets to Texas, ask her a question for me. If the Delta pilots strike and they can't get back, can I keep her car? Since my husband works at the airport they flew out of, he brought it to our house in lieu of the airport parking thing...and I was thinking about what a nice ride that car has...much better than my Buick...just a thought.

I hope you have a wonderful time together!

Hugs from North Carolina & Sister Julie

LOL...that was a joke...but it looks like the pilots are going to sign the temporary agreement on Monday, thankfully. Actually, Jeff had said if they did strike, he would drive out and get you. Give that man any excuse for a road trip, honestly! Love you. Be nice to Becki today, it's Easter!

Sis Julie

Alright, enough is enough! Apparently it's time for a new RULE around here. No more coming to my BLOG to hold a personal conversation with someone other than me!!!

If anybody still comes to look at this tired old post... HOWDY! I'll post something new here in a few days when the company clears out. Unlike SOME people I know, I just can't neglect my real life for the sake of my BLOG life. But I'll be back soon!

~Bec~

Bec, you are a riot! Hope you had a wonderful time with all your family down. I'll catch your blog when I get back from Montana. Meanwhile, you can catch up on the happenings here in Canada while I'm gone. Love ya!

Sorry Becki, we were just trying to keep it going for you! :)

What are you saying -- that one post every 12 days gets a little old and boring?! Of all the nerve!!! HA. I'm amazed that these tired old posts still seem to get a few hits now and then, even if it IS just people talking to each other instead of to me. I'm sure if I don't post something new soon people will just stop coming to check altogether! Never fear -- Mom and Dad are leaving tomorrow and I'm going to do my VERY BEST to post something new before we leave for Youth Convention this weekend. Time will tell!

Hey Becki
This is Pam Clawson.

How are you doing? I just found your blog by being on Marsha Brooks.

I was reading that Katie reads how did you teach her to read at that age. I would like to know because I've had a hard time getting my eight year old to read, but she is doing good now. But Rebekah is 4 and she knows her upper case and a few of the lower case. She is very smart for her age. I think alot of it is she watches me while I'm teaching Bethany. I just would like to know how you did it.

Love you
Pam Clawson

Well, Sister Pam, I don't know if you'll get a chance to read this or not, but here goes:

Truth be known, I can't take the credit for Katie's reading at all. I taught her... nothing! Ha! We have a Leap Frog toy that is a magnet -- we keep it on the fridge. There's a larger base piece, then the 26 letters that are separate magnets. When you put a letter into the base and push on it, it sings a song: "T says 'tuh,' T says 'tuh,' every letter makes a sound, T says 'tuh,'" and so on. My kids have all learned the sounds that letters make from THAT toy, not me. From there, Katie began sounding out words all by herself. I worked with her on it from time to time, but she just had a great interest in learning to read (greater than her Mother's interest in TEACHING her to read, apparently!) and she pretty much taught herself. That's probably not much help to you, but that's all I can tell you! I would highly recommend that Leap Frog toy -- it works wonders! ;-)

Hope all is well with you and your family! Take care and keep in touch!!!

Hey Becki

That is funny because Rebekah has one of those leap frog toys. She plays with alot I think that is why she knows her alphabet, because I've worked with her a little bit but not much. Bethany also has a leap pad that has been very helpful with Bethany.

I heard that Dustin came for your Youth Convention. I bet that was fun. He is a mess. I really think alot of him he is a great young man. He really loves the young people. He is best Youth Leader you could ask for.

Well tell James hello. You all take care.

Love you
Pam
